<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">During our Reader Workshop unit this month, we were focusing on fables. My students learned how to use Green Screen to create a short movie on a few fables we studied. We used the Doink app that is real easy to use. First, students worked on the Readers Theater script before we made the movie. We used props to display the characters in the fables and used images of the setting to make it seem realistic. Here is a pic of students using the green screen. </span><br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The students worked so well together. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This video is of Country Mouse City Mouse. Students has a blast learning how to use Green Screen with props to create this fable. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There was two groups working on fables with Readers Theater. The second group did The Fox and The Crow. Below you will see the short movie.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I think for our first time being movie makers, we did a fabulous job! The students really enjoyed getting to create them.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Seesaw allows you to add almost anything into the app or website. It creates a digital portfolio for my students and I can use it as a fast assessment tool. It has become one of the best ways that I can assess my students and also share their work with parents. Students love to share their work with others and this is a great method that allows the teacher to authorize before it is shared. </span></div>

I love to see all of the pretty colors this time of year but the pollen does not agree with me. With that being said, I will take allergy medicine and enjoy the beauty around me.<br />
<br />
I have been busy taking care of my daughter who has dislocated and broken both bones in her leg. This has given me a new understanding of how much we take for granted. She has to depend on my help for everything. She has been a trooper through this accident. I am proud of her strength and courage. While she is on recovery, she is completing the 2nd half of her last semester online at WCU. She will graduate this May with a degree in Biology.<br />
<br />
This time away from my classroom has allowed me to create some new items. I have created <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Compound-Word-Puzzles-3121812" target="_blank">Compound Word Puzzles</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="200" src="https://ecdn.teacherspayteachers.com/thumbitem/Compound-Word-Puzzles-3121812-1492823542/original-3121812-1.jpg" width="150" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can check it out and see if you would like to use it in your classroom. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Compound words are hard for some students to grasp. SO this is a great way to practice. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope the seasonal allergies are not too rough for you. Enjoy your day and come back to my blog again.</div>

It is amazing!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVV660SJF7LeThr-dnHvF4rmyXHootW6y_xWs3605NVtHllCsU1TmYl_CyiTHNMss_ysqosCw3x3EF7putD9JtQv9a93aMf2eyMpr_kIPggBQxuLqgl8ZCyYWVA5lsFQQfz6ddKlUgTW_B/s1600/seesaw-script-icon-combo.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="115" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVV660SJF7LeThr-dnHvF4rmyXHootW6y_xWs3605NVtHllCsU1TmYl_CyiTHNMss_ysqosCw3x3EF7putD9JtQv9a93aMf2eyMpr_kIPggBQxuLqgl8ZCyYWVA5lsFQQfz6ddKlUgTW_B/s200/seesaw-script-icon-combo.png" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
This has become my favorite technology piece this year. My students can access it with a QR code that they scan with ipad or chromebook to add their technology piece into their very own ePortfolio.<br />
<br />
Then I have the ability to see their work and approve it. Parents can have access to their child's ePortfolio with a sign in access that I give them. Students are able to create with ipads and chromebooks and save their work into Seesaw. I have all of their work coming into one place and I can assess their work and provide feedback.<br />
<br />
I can also post student work on my blog page, twitter and other social media platforms. Students enjoy getting to add pieces of technology into their ePortfolio. Parents have loved getting to see the work that their child is producing.<br />
<br />
If you have never tried Seesaw. Then I highly recommend that you give it a try. If you use Seesaw, share ideas and success stories that you are having.<br />
<br />

When we begin our summer break, we have a list of all the things we would like to accomplish before we go back to school. Of course, I never get to my list. I am lucky to get a few items checked off.<br />
<br />
<u>My List</u>:<br />
<br />
Remodel home office<br />
Lose weight<br />
Exercise<br />
Make tons of items for TpT<br />
Organize my entire house<br />
Purchase apartment items for my college student<br />
Complete more classes from my Grad School<br />
Travel<br />
Tour colleges with high school daughter<br />
Read<br />
Catch up on my scrapbooking<br />
Create with my Cricut machine<br />
<br />
These are only a few items from my list. I did get some of them marked off but some I totally missed by a long shot!<br />
<br />
<br />
Now it is the last day of July and August brings the end of summer and back to thinking about school, our classroom setup and preparing for our students. I was trying to not think about school this year at all during the summer like I have in the past to have time to recharge. But then we go into a store and there it is BTS products. It comes sooner and sooner each year. Don't get me wrong, I love being a teacher but we need our summer to get energized for another year of school.<br />
<br />
With all the Back To School sales starting up. Be sure to check out the TpT BTS sale that will be going on August 1 & August 2. This is a great time to stock up on some great products. You can check out my <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Tonyas-Take-On-Teaching" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: x-large;">TpT store</span></a> and use the code below to get the discount. My entire store is 20% off.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During a recent lesson, we were learning about vibration. We created ArtBots!! During a Professional Development session at NCCAT. I learned about using Artbots in the classroom. Students had to use the parts to assemble their ArtBot and make it move and create art.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The images and video below shows the Artbots in action. The students had a blast getting their ArtBots to work. The Bots have markers attached to the bottom that would draw as the ArtBot vibrations moved it across the paper. Some moved in circles while others moved diagonally or sideways.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students had to record the steps and the materials needed to create the ArtBot and complete a self-assessment.</div>

<br />
Wow, it is hard to believe that it is already the end of October. Where did September go? Being busy learning about life cycle with technology has been at the top of our list in my classroom. We have been using chromebooks, ipads, QR codes, Discovery Education, Blendspace and nonfiction text to increase our knowledge. Students have worked really hard to use their technologically skills to research about the life cycles of butterflies, pumpkins and bats.<br />
<br />
Students enjoy using chromebooks with Google Classroom with a Blendspace lesson. Using Blendspace has been a great way to add STEM activities. Here is a picture of students fully engaged in STEM learning.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuDiEKWMVD3bwPTsNNWPOwYgxVeSZOfmv0icLSNrNC20_vw0Cc8MN8MfQcs5mz1CVFy61SGgfPpZVbrEMNypbLHZGyfXPy5-Lxa3BmVRhkq_62nGvoALaolZdBimD2PUuG9ig69CrHIHXy/s1600/pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuDiEKWMVD3bwPTsNNWPOwYgxVeSZOfmv0icLSNrNC20_vw0Cc8MN8MfQcs5mz1CVFy61SGgfPpZVbrEMNypbLHZGyfXPy5-Lxa3BmVRhkq_62nGvoALaolZdBimD2PUuG9ig69CrHIHXy/s320/pic2.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here you will see them working and sharing their excitement about seeing a butterfly coming out of its chrysalis. Seeing the butterflies in action taught the students more than just seeing an image in a text. </div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO3eVgDr-JJomeaC-mGJYizXXnwCfTwFleC44yvP8ebBPRZGtk5LuuUEfbXXUigvO0ZVOjzGh6JtentQlIkwSfMdqotTw_JQekFQkPrFe-0xKzUyJ2iFOUcssi7VacWkS1BbqSyLv8XFCq/s1600/pic1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO3eVgDr-JJomeaC-mGJYizXXnwCfTwFleC44yvP8ebBPRZGtk5LuuUEfbXXUigvO0ZVOjzGh6JtentQlIkwSfMdqotTw_JQekFQkPrFe-0xKzUyJ2iFOUcssi7VacWkS1BbqSyLv8XFCq/s320/pic1.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students would learn songs about the life cycle of a butterfly to learn each stage. Then they applied their new understanding to create an Appsmashing activity with Piccollage and Popplet with Chatterpix to tell about the life cycle stages.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students loved using their new findings to create using ipads. We love using Appsmashing techniques to show what we learned.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students also work with STEM in Technology Stations. This is a time that students can focus in on one area of content that we are working on. Students use technology to acquire new information that can then be applied in their writing. Students also record their new information in a class blog post.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Below you will see that students still love to use post-it notes to record their new learning. Here is a picture of their information on our classroom bat.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My students will be the SUPER HEROES in TRAINING in my room. Each day will be full of training experiences to prepare them to launch into 3rd grade next year. We will be using technology to enhance our curriculum and learning in a variety of ways.</div>

Here you will see that my room is setup for the first day of school. I am always so excite to see my students on the first day and to welcome them into our classroom community. Each student has a WELCOME pack for 2nd grade. I always begin with my desk in this arrangement so students can get to know each other. Then desk arrangements are changed as needed throughout the year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Google Classroom is a great way to share assignments with your students. My school is completely Google with email and Drive, so we are using Chromebooks that allow students to login with their Google accounts and begin learning.<br />
<br />
I use Google Classroom with Blendspace and Thinglink. Depending on what we are currently working on in our curriculum. I mostly use it with Science and Social Studies. We are learning about Matter and Landforms. I can easily find lesson or even create lessons on Blendspace or Thinglink and add the assignments into Google Classroom.<br />
<br />
Here is a Thinglink that I created on <a href="http://www.thinglink.com/scene/580521912946393088">Plant Life Cycles</a>. My students have really enjoyed getting to learn about Plants by using this awesome site. All you do is insert an image and you add tags on the picture that has videos, websites, articles, songs, books and more. Students work their way through each tag on the image and begin to learn. You insert a quiz or assign a journal or activity to complete the lesson.<br />

I was lucky this summer to win 5 Chromebooks for my classroom to go along with my 12 ipads. My new group of students this year are learning how to use the ipads and the Chromebooks. We have been using many apps in our App-smashing activities.</span><br />

<span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This past week we used one of the Chromebook carts that we have at our school. You will see in the image below that my students are fully engaged in learning about plants. They are using a lesson that I created on Blendspace. </span><br />

I have only 6.5 days of school with my second graders. This has been a great year, I will miss this group of students. Like always this time of year. We are all so busy with end of the year testing, paperwork and awards day. Finishing up all of our curriculum before the last day of school. My students have been working hard all year. We have had a great time using our iPads. Technology is a major component in my classroom. Students are always working with technology. They have created many different projects with all types of technology with apps, google and Discovery Education.<br />
<br />
This past week we have been learning about the Rainforest. Students have been learning about the layers and animals of the Rainforest. We have had fun make crafts each day. Our final full week of school will be working on an Ocean Unit. Each day we will learn about a certain ocean creature.<br />
<br />
This week my students have been working on their Book Buffet projects. I got this great idea from <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Book-Buffet-Fiction-Book-Report-Book-Project-280394">The Peanut Gallery</a> on TpT. Students had to pick a fiction book and create a project that resembles food to tell about their book. If you're looking for a fun way to share a book, this is an idea for you. Check out the item in their TpT store. Students and their parents will be experiencing the Book Buffet this Friday before we have awards. Students will get to explore a classroom full of great books in the Book Buffet. I am excited to see how great this project and buffet goes.<br />
<br />
Soon I will have to pack up my classroom for the summer. It is always a good time to weed out things that I do not need in my room anymore. I have been trying to empty out file cabinets of old work I do not use any longer. Do you have to pack up your classroom or do you get to keep things out? Our floors have to be stripped and waxed. During the summer I am always thinking of a different layout of my room and new ways to get more organized. SO this summer I will be busy looking for new ideas and planning for the next year. I hope to share ideas here. So stop by soon. Have a great summer!<br />

This really made me think long and hard about what my beliefs are. I am very curious to know what other educators beliefs are as well. Please share your 5 beliefs as a comment below. Well here are my beliefs.<br />
<br />
One: I feel that all children can learn. Each child will learn at their own level and speed.We are born learning as soon as we take our first breath. We learn how to eat, we learn how to roll over, we learn how to sit, crawl and walk are just a few of the ways we learn at the beginning of our lives.<br />
<br />
Two: I feel that it is important to make a connection with your students. Students will feel valued and respected if this is achieved. Students will be made to feel a part of the group and belong.<br />
<br />
Three: I feel that it is a responsibility for parents, educators and the community to help support the learning of a child. It is a united effort of all that come into contact with that child.<br />
<br />
Four: Education is about enabling a student to learn by using a variety of methods to discovery of knowledge. This is obtained by using technology, explicit instruction, independent and cooperative learning. We are all lifelong learners by making ourselves be reflective thinkers.<br />
<br />
Five: Learning is the primary goal of all students.Creating an environment that is conducive to learning for each individual. We should be challenge our students in their learning.<br />
<br />
I would love to hear your beliefs of education. Leave a comment below.<br />
<br />
In my classroom we are using technology is all areas of learning. We use ipads, computers, and smartboards with our instruction and independent/group work. Students love learning about a new app to create presentation on all content areas. This week we began using Pic Collage for retelling stories and grammar showing what a noun is, an adjective, and verbs. Students have even worked with their 5th grade buddies and showed them how to use Pic Collage and Poplet.<br />
<br />
Hope you find some ideas to use in your classroom.<br />

Students are using ipads throughout the day on numerous activities and apps. We just began using a new app called Spellyfish. Students work on spelling with this app. It is really useful for my students who need help with phonics and spelling skills.<br />

Students plan out their stories scene by scene. Scene One is the Setup. Student pick setting, characters and the mood. Student animate the character and record their voice.Scene Two is the Conflict. Student create the problem in the story. Scene Three is the Challenge. How does the character handle the conflict. Scene Four is the Climax. This is where all the action takes place. Scene Five is the Resolution. Does the characters will over the conflict or are they defeated? We used a great resource from <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/ToonTastic-iPad-activities-234641">Tina's Teaching Treasures on TPT.</a> It has graphic organizers to help students create their stories with characters and scene from Toontastic. Once the stories are completed I will post their videos. Also on the app it has ToonTube that is where you can view your video along with others that have shared videos. You can check out amazing videos that others have create and use them in your classroom for examples or even as an edition to a lesson or activity that you are teaching. It is a great resource.</div>

We have been working on writing about our Holly Days!!! Here in picture you will see the holly leaves with students writing about their holiday with their families and their traditions. This is always a cute display that I have my students to create each year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, my students did a GREAT job creating their winter snowman pictures. They are hanging in our hallway for all to see. Students will be writing a story in class to go along with their picture. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibFOU1Ff1nD2M1VJrtbkws2HlPRIFQf0jsI-WTZoT50KlAs4Tpt5PiNgz6peph75o8_Y_HhPUU2GUO449HKBxhB5XJl1MtAHIMzqcnkyxJTosJ7FgxSRdcjeiK7H_EO_aoXh6GfBuSxAw/s1600/hallway.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibFOU1Ff1nD2M1VJrtbkws2HlPRIFQf0jsI-WTZoT50KlAs4Tpt5PiNgz6peph75o8_Y_HhPUU2GUO449HKBxhB5XJl1MtAHIMzqcnkyxJTosJ7FgxSRdcjeiK7H_EO_aoXh6GfBuSxAw/s320/hallway.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think they turned out fabulous. I love snowman. SO any chance I get to make something with them I do!!! This activity was in our ART center. My students always look forward to what I have each week for them to create in my ART center.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So being that I LOVE SNOWMAN. I have my door as one. A few years ago, I made my door into a snowman and the ladies on my grade level wanted one too. So this year this is my door. Each teacher on my grade level has one just like it in a different color.<br />Mine is LIME GREEN cause that is my favorite color.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Let me know what you think.</div>

I love technology and use it in all aspects of my life. It is also used in many ways in my instruction with my students. Every day lessons I teach, I use some type of technology. It may be the smartboard lesson. We use many ipad apps for all subject areas. We use laptops and desktop computers in centers.<br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Here is a list of some of our FAVORITE APPS to use!</span></b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsSRTbpb6px3dYKaR2v_D8abGh3DY1sHbfTBHU5JmRuagY-jljCh5VAJZSGIgzxPS0MoEjJXdZpgcY27TcwnM8B80IgoXT51Bmt2GxcBr0uxG_mjN7ZwzF3aVXnz8-Agie49YzjnkCZJ4e/s1600/yakit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsSRTbpb6px3dYKaR2v_D8abGh3DY1sHbfTBHU5JmRuagY-jljCh5VAJZSGIgzxPS0MoEjJXdZpgcY27TcwnM8B80IgoXT51Bmt2GxcBr0uxG_mjN7ZwzF3aVXnz8-Agie49YzjnkCZJ4e/s1600/yakit.jpg" /></a> Here is one that students made!</div>
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="400" src="http://freakngenius.com/e/J2q8W" width="400"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
We love <b>Sock Puppets. </b>We used this app to tell about Helen Keller. You know technology and its quirks. It will not allow me to post students video. But here is a look at the app.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmDIXBQ0umTFzaHL1xAnjJBBQFHJs8ES8gI1b6nUSJVYpye9r3wF5mdfzCiY9y8UpyBNva5Cyk3vnIDNwxYZyjgZULnMAcVqGVb5hcQi7cCdzzz91sUiOR6QPkjtJdQgcOjuzejqrEbsrD/s1600/sock+puppets.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmDIXBQ0umTFzaHL1xAnjJBBQFHJs8ES8gI1b6nUSJVYpye9r3wF5mdfzCiY9y8UpyBNva5Cyk3vnIDNwxYZyjgZULnMAcVqGVb5hcQi7cCdzzz91sUiOR6QPkjtJdQgcOjuzejqrEbsrD/s1600/sock+puppets.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students are using ipads daily in centers. Here you can see then using one of our fun apps <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Word Ball.</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>They have to build words as fast as they can before the letter balls disappear. We have even used this app with our 5th grade buddies that come to our class on Wednesdays.</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students have a blast with Rocket Speller to practice working with words.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Big Cat stories are AWESOME!!</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We use them in our Listening Center. Students listen to the story being read to them. Then they read it them self and complete the Listening Center Sheet with comprehension questions about the story.<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>QR Codes are used through out our learning. </b>We used them with Math, Reading, Science and Social Studies. Students love to scan the code and see what it contains. It maybe just to check their answers. To watch a short video segment on Plants and complete a comprehension activity. It can guide them to an app or website to go to for the lesson. QR Codes are a great way to get student active in their learning. This is the app that we use for it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students in my classroom love using the ipads. We use the <b>Showme app</b> to display how to work out math problems during math block. Students can show their thinking on ipad and share with the class. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOxEhlNIVCh3sOJmNvrlGZ4wc6bot3Si94iN_DZ-U3SOJT5pIcaQf0fSwdNKXaMrEStX2TaFJFF2F4eLneV8XSU5BhBlK0TTHHfJNzJ4pV_soRni45b_btzStXaGlb1MfKkGdlF3Rkt7Hw/s1600/showme.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOxEhlNIVCh3sOJmNvrlGZ4wc6bot3Si94iN_DZ-U3SOJT5pIcaQf0fSwdNKXaMrEStX2TaFJFF2F4eLneV8XSU5BhBlK0TTHHfJNzJ4pV_soRni45b_btzStXaGlb1MfKkGdlF3Rkt7Hw/s1600/showme.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During our geometry unit we use the <b>GEOBOARD APP</b> instead of geoboards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhdqxJQVOV65OUPeekuMIdKHXcKGZS8EpC14cJ3THv0IogNte4JTkxn5euD0eJecvYrcmAopkWhyby4WtSv50_qMPf5XcoV1WB1okw4hgW609elV_C-MFoj5EqaA64fBEe9KCNntY_-4Vy/s1600/geobaord.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhdqxJQVOV65OUPeekuMIdKHXcKGZS8EpC14cJ3THv0IogNte4JTkxn5euD0eJecvYrcmAopkWhyby4WtSv50_qMPf5XcoV1WB1okw4hgW609elV_C-MFoj5EqaA64fBEe9KCNntY_-4Vy/s1600/geobaord.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students really enjoyed using this app instead of the old geoboard with the bands that snap and break. They really understood how shapes are created with the bands and how a rectangle and square have right angles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope I have given you some ideas and apps that you would like to try in your classroom. We are always working with apps to find the best ones. All the apps here are FREE!!!! I love to use the free apps, that way my students can use them at home also. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Please leave a comment below with any apps that you love to use in your room. I am very interested to hear what works for your students. Share any lessons or activities that you do with the apps or technology in your classroom.</div>

Students couldn't believe that we had been sent an elf from the North Pole. We got to decide as a class a name for our elf. Each student submitted a name and a reason why. Then as a class, we voted on a name. So the name of our elf is.........<b>CHARLIE!!!!</b></span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The next day, Charlie the elf was in our highlighter tub with highlighters all over the floor and he left a note saying HI!!!! SO we are off to a great start with a naughty elf. </span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Then today, we found him like this in our classroom. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">He had a fun time with my tape dispenser and was tangled up in the tape. But he did leave all of the students a candy cane. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Wonder what he will be doing tomorrow?????</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Check back to see Charlie the elf and what he is getting into.</span></div>

Sorry it has been a while since I have made a post on my blog. It has been a crazy start to my school year. I had moved back to 2nd grade with a whole new classroom make over. To top that off, our grade level was flooded with 2nd graders. I have 25 kiddos and we just got another teacher to make our grade level have 6 teachers. So now after all of that I am with 21 kiddos now. Then this week I had a student to move. Now my roster is sitting at 20, WHEW!!!!!!!<br />
<br />
Now, since we have settled into our new roster and getting the students that moved into the new teachers room placed and started. I now feel like I can begin my year. Wow, it to say the least. It has been an emotional ride. Having to let students from your room go it very hard. I had already became attached to them.<br />
<br />
On to better things, my classroom is doing GREAT!!! I feel this is one of the best group of kids I have ever had. The students do a fabulous job or working together to build a real classroom community.<br />
<br />
My students love using the ipads on daily basis. We use them with math, writing, reading, centers, whole groups, guided groups and this week we are having 5th grade buddies coming to work with us too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9cEpdiAEGCpsAskKoMEIBPIYNfQi9tRBYsodClEzs3Q5nYhXwhh3PSXsdaNxmtFd1t88bySJGNVDKHKPSKnlwsyp3nUly6UUngKgGHtX27BziedE8lX8HwVDHZKKxf0NPGGlw7iPqt1M/s1600/scootpad.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="106" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9cEpdiAEGCpsAskKoMEIBPIYNfQi9tRBYsodClEzs3Q5nYhXwhh3PSXsdaNxmtFd1t88bySJGNVDKHKPSKnlwsyp3nUly6UUngKgGHtX27BziedE8lX8HwVDHZKKxf0NPGGlw7iPqt1M/s320/scootpad.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.scootpad.com/" target="_blank">Scootpad</a> is a great app/website that my students use to work on reading and math. They can also access their account and practice at home. It will give me a message about the weekly progress made by my students. I suggest you go check it out and see if it may be something for your students. You can assign what grade level you need. It is Common Core aligned. It is amazing how the kiddos love it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Come back soon to check out all of the fun and amazing activities my students will be working on. I look forward to hearing your comments on your classroom. </div>

Apptivity is a great way for integration of technology. Teacher will setup an Apptivity for students to create using apps that are suggested by the teacher. It is broken down by Brainstorming, Research, Interview, Compare and Organize and Share! It includes an app vault for students to use for the apptivity. This is for sure an exercise that I will be using in my classroom with our ipads.<br />
<br />
TPAK is a great resource for educators to think about their instruction and using technology. By connecting Content, Pedagogy and Technology seamlessly into your teaching. It is easy to put technology into our day to day learning but the importance of using the technology. The outcome not the technology tool is at the front. Think back to the content that we are wanting our student to achieve then work on technology integration. I feel that this will make me think more about what I am doing and why.<br />

As being a pinnacle leader, we were given ipads to use in our classroom with our students. In my classroom I had 22 students with 6 ipads. Having the ipads opened up a new resource for my students to use in their learning and creativity.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8z4sTfMeHLZpkaWs8EICHS0CgHTBoNjkx4pcggzmCusnjJvlscnV1mb_lZJ_e95xDT7dm_jxqOHbAhVs6m851nO5jJC2XgYeKV9bXG7ZmmpmXAmZcUQI7QpxbN4y4aMOX0BUHqj75LBw/s1600/photo+%252811%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8z4sTfMeHLZpkaWs8EICHS0CgHTBoNjkx4pcggzmCusnjJvlscnV1mb_lZJ_e95xDT7dm_jxqOHbAhVs6m851nO5jJC2XgYeKV9bXG7ZmmpmXAmZcUQI7QpxbN4y4aMOX0BUHqj75LBw/s320/photo+%252811%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Using apps with the ipads was a great way to meet the needs of my students. Students worked in groups, with a partner and alone on numerous apps and our classroom kidblog. The ipads were used every day by the students. Kidblog was a part of our morning work everyday. Using the ipads with STEM was very beneficial for my students to discover and share with each other.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3zmT5qrTtEkaofUp0pcm1DyuUQa-qYQVnar9Japncim-Acm3gg2ZF9Ie8Kt2YqecYGf-ipv-00_duiDpkaSBAbw5vs1VemgtN6cEl3_k77ksS5wJ55a61IVsN8LXQ6TOFW0kZqNW-jkU/s1600/kidblog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3zmT5qrTtEkaofUp0pcm1DyuUQa-qYQVnar9Japncim-Acm3gg2ZF9Ie8Kt2YqecYGf-ipv-00_duiDpkaSBAbw5vs1VemgtN6cEl3_k77ksS5wJ55a61IVsN8LXQ6TOFW0kZqNW-jkU/s1600/kidblog.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
In my room, our favorite app was Toontastic. My students had the most fun with this app. Students worked collaboratively in groups with a leader. The groups were assigned different tasks each time. My favorite activity was for them to create a script for a story layout about bullying. There is one of these videos displayed on a post here on my blog.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_HrhzGFJlMsdHA3Hj-zlxYpNy9mQJafcrULLwysyQ0iQDFyGZ7JoW47L_4sSPR2lZZxpOxuCsVVTUS3yyY6Kw_xlZJuPTn5rJSH-7uvRDD-BnTOPIOGC11x4DdulnY-6R2idh5J4ThRQ/s1600/Toontastic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_HrhzGFJlMsdHA3Hj-zlxYpNy9mQJafcrULLwysyQ0iQDFyGZ7JoW47L_4sSPR2lZZxpOxuCsVVTUS3yyY6Kw_xlZJuPTn5rJSH-7uvRDD-BnTOPIOGC11x4DdulnY-6R2idh5J4ThRQ/s1600/Toontastic2.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We also have lots of fun using QR codes. My students always enjoyed the excitement of what would be in the code. A video, a link, a picture or answer to a question.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My classroom loved using the ipads in their learning. Using technology is a major component of my teaching. We used our school computer labs to work on project based learning. Students research about a county they choose. Did a presentation and were evaluated by their peers. Students made a powerpoint Biography that was shared with the class. At the end of the school year, students had to CREATE a newspaper. We used Microsoft Publisher for this. They had to create the layout, theme or newspaper and complete a full page with head line, articles with photos and share with class. My students really got into this one. Most of the boys in my class did it on Minecraft.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I would love to hear about ways you integrated technology with your students and what apps, or programs you use. As I head tomorrow for my 2nd year of Pinnacle. I am excited to see what new resources we will have to use with our students this coming school year. Here is to a new year or endless opportunities to reach every student that enters our classrooms. Happy learning!!!!!!</div>

I love using scoot games in my classroom. This game is a fun way for students to practice reading number words and writing them as standard form.<br />
<br />
Students will get behind a card with their recording sheet and when told to start look at card match number on sheet and record their answer. Teacher will then say <a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Scoot-Written-Number-Word-740877" target="_blank">SCOOT</a>, student then scoots to the next card.<br />
<br />
This will continue until all cards have been answered. Students will turn in sheet or can score sheet with teacher calling out answers. This is a good assessment for students and also having fun while doing it.<br />

This was my first year in 3rd Grade. As I entered this new year with new grade level and newly adopted Common Core curriculum, I was a bit worried about doing a good job. I am thankful for a great group of ladies on my grade level. We all worked hard together to design lesson plans. As I reflect, I feel that I did a great job with this new challenge.<br />
<br />
Now, I am luck to say that I am moving back to my beloved 2nd grade. My comfort zone, my home, my love for teaching GRADE. I have taught 2nd grade for 6 years. 2nd grade is my favorite grade to teach. I have taught several different grade levels. I will be with a group of awesome ladies. I will be moving classrooms again. But I am happy to do it since I get to return to 2nd.<br />
<br />
Summer break has finally begun for me!!! I will be relaxing around the pool soaking up some rays. Spending some much needed time with my girls. Although it is summer break my To Do List is already started for jobs needed around the house.<br />
<br />
I know I"m supposed to rest but this is the time for me to begin thinking about the next school year and changes that I want to make to my classroom, lessons, and find new ideas and activities. School is in my blood and I will always be planning. I feel that is what makes you an awesome teacher instead of just a good teacher.<br />
<br />
I would love to hear of some ideas that you are planning in your classroom for the next school year. I will be painting my classroom and redecorating some with minor changes. Adding some new pops of color and flair. I will post pictures when it is all finished.<br />
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!!!<br />

School Year Coming to an End</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This has been my first year teaching 3rd Grade. It has been a great learning experience. My school district adopted Common Core this year, along with Readers and Writers Workshop. SO being in a new grade level with all NEW curriculum has definitely kept me very busy this year.<br />
<br />
I have an awesome group of 22 students. Nine of them I had last year in 2nd grade. WE have be lucky to have ipads in our classroom this year by my Pinnacle Induction (technology). Students really love being on the ipads and learning new things. WE were able to be apart of a Pinnacle Technology Showcase, where members of the school board, administrators, etc were invited to see what our students have been creating with technology, specially with the ipads.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students are working with the ipads. They are so amazing at their ability to use technology and work collaboratively.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Students are showing the apps that they have used in our curriculum. My students favorite is TOONTASTIC!! They love creating the story boards and recording their voices.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Working using QR codes is an activity that we include in all subjects areas. On the display board I use QR codes for students to learn about the bones in their Human Body. I got this great idea from the internet. I wish I had the person's name so I can give them the credit. Thank you for this great activity. My students work with QR codes for reading comprehension, for self checking activities and for locating information in our STEM lessons.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This year has came by so quickly. This time of year is bitter sweet. I am ready for summer break but I will also miss seeing these adorable faces everyday. My journey in 3rd is also coming to an end. I'm lucky to be moving back to 2nd grade. I have taught 2nd for 6 years. I love this grade. So this involves moving my class room again. This time I will be in a totally different room than I was before. But I am so excited to be working with some fabulous ladies on the grade level. </div>
